EDITORIAL: Frank's Addiction to the MMOs

In the past, I have mentioned, at least I hope I have, that I have a long-standing love-hate relationship with the world of MMORPGs. I have played a few of them, some I visited in depth, and others I kinda just drove through, and checked out the scenery and then left without so much as a second thought. And I have learned a lot about life, and the pursuit of fetch quests. So, if you will indulge me, as I wait for the release of Iron Man 3, I'd like to take you into the depths of my madness. Once more, it is time to venture to the desolate world of Pandora. A land full of misshapen freaks of nature, and psychotic lunatics. And....Oh yeah, somewhere in the neighborhood of 87 Bajillion guns. So, what's a vault hunter to do? EDITORIAL: The Borderlands 2 Saga or, The Tale of the Empty Hands

Some of you may recall, that earlier in the year, I put out a list of the 5 games I am looking forward to the most this year. For those that don't remember, the list was (in no particular order) Resident Evil 6, Kingdoms of Amalur, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, and finally.... Borderlands 2. Of these 5 games, 4 have shipped. The last of the three shipped just last week, and that is the reason I have decided to write this post. I would not go so far as to call this an editorial, although I will label it as such. This is more along the lines of a partial psychotic break, and my attempt to put it into words. How bad can it get? Find out after the jump

GAMES: Mists of Pandaria

So, I'm a bit obsessed with games. Love to play games of all varieties, whether it be tabletop or video games. So, it will probably come as no surprise, that I try to play games when I can find the time and money to afford such things. Several years back I started to play a little known game called "World of Warcraft". A game that turned into a sort of obsession for millions of individuals, an addiction that could be likened unto some form of digital cocaine. But, whatever.... I can quit whenever I want.

Now, as the end of September approaches, and another expansion looms on the horizon, I decided, I might as well weigh in on this particular global phenomenon, and so I shall... after the jump.

MTG Set Review: Avacyn Restored

(Frank here, with a little introduction. This post is entirely related to the card game Magic: The Gathering. If you greek pedigree is like my own, you know the game. If you don't know the game, or are not interested in the game, this post may not be for you. Also of note, this one is crazy long. Lots of information to digest, from one of the best Magic players I know. So, with that in mind...let me turn this over to O'Neill.)


I'd like to start out by introducing myself; but who among you really cares? I'm going by O'Neill on here, which is obviously a fake name, so anything else I tell you about myself can't really be trusted. So let's just pretend for the sake of what I hope will be a great blogger-reader relationship that I posted some stuff about my life that you connected to, and let's move on to what we both really care about:

Avacyn Restored.

I'm not going to waste your time (or my own for that matter) going over each and every card. Instead, I'm going to focus on that cards that I either deem particularly good, or particularly interesting. Let's start with my overall feeling about the set. First off, it's drooling with flavor. Avacyn is back, freed from her self-imposed prison inside the Hellvault, and now the evils of Innistrad are running for the hills; and the cards tell this story quite well. This set is a Commander players dream. Hot off the press we have five new Legendary creatures to broaden our horizons for Generals, and a host of Miracles to give us the same effects of cards we're already using and potentially for cheaper.

Mass Effect 3: Final thoughts

So, I made it well known that on my list of most anticipated games for the year, there was one that stood above the others in my mind for MOST anticipated. That game, was Mass Effect 3. Now I have played the game, and have made it to the end. I have seen the journey's end, if you will, and I have let it simmer in my head. I wanted to avoid any knee-jerk reactions to a game that should have hands down blown away the competition. But, did it live up to the hype, or did it leave me questioning my love of video games?

GAMES: Mass Effect 3 Demo thoughts

So, I had to take a small break from Amalur, not because I am not loving the game (because I am loving it), but rather because my PS3 has finally managed to download and install the Mass Effect 3 demo, and I finally have time to actually play with it a little bit. So, it is time to kick back, pop an energy drink, and dig right in to the demo for what is my most anticipated game of the year!

GAMES: Amalur- Initial Impressions

As it was one of my most anticipated games of the year, I figure this is worthy of an extra blog post. I purchased Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning on release day, no pre-order, so I miss out on the special pre-order bonuses, but I already have too much on pre-order as it is. And I did not pick this up at midnight, as I was too busy putting final touches on my thoughts on Woman in Black. But, I have a copy in hand and will be starting it up to give my initial thoughts on the game.

Frank's Most Anticipated Games: 2012 Edition

So, we've talked about our love of comics, and our love of movies already on this blog, but we have yet to discuss anything at all relating to video games. And, since I am seeming to be less prolific than may counterpart in these blog posts, I figured I would step up my game, and talk about games!

So, my goal here is to tell you in part, the games that I look forward to playing most this year. Now, it should be known that I play a lot of games, hell I'm actually playing one as I type this post up (Disgaea 4, if you are wondering). I've managed to kill several systems, and am currently on my second PS3 and Xbox 360. And, in what I believe to be a small bit of coincidence, the last game I played on every system that died or was retired, was a Square-Enix game.
